Hello everyone! I know I know, it’s been a very long time since I have posted any updates. Things have been slightly crazy here. Lots has happened since I last posted. In January Luna had one beautiful puppy, this was our litter D. We called him Lone Wolf. We loved that little pup, but unfortunately he passed away a little after turning 3 weeks old. He had a very bad condition called mega esophagus. The vet said it was one of the biggest he had ever seen. We were so sad to see that little pup go, but were so happy for the time we were able to spend with him.
Ella was bred to Axel in March and had 7 wonderful puppies born in May. We had 3 females and 4 males, this was our litter E. This litter was a blast. They picked things up so well. They were very easy to potty train and were just so fun. They even adapted well to all of the crazy things in our personal life. At the same time we had our litter E, we were also in the process of moving. It was quite a hectic ordeal. About 5 days after litter E was born, we got under contract with our new house and put our old house on the market. We had to move in with friends for about 2 1/2 weeks while we showed our house, because we figured it would be much harder to sell a house with dogs living there. We sold our house quickly and were able to move back into our old house for 2 weeks until we could move into our new house. Right when we were supposed to move into our new house a mix up happened with our lender where we had to be out of our old house but couldn’t move into our new house for about 4 days, so we had to move in with another friend until our new house was finally ready. Not only did we have to move all of our stuff several times, but we had to move all of our dogs and puppies. It was very stressful. Thankfully all of the dogs handled all of the back and fourth very very well and everything went very smoothly. Finally we were able to move into our new house nestled on 6 acres in beautiful Eagle Mountain. The dogs love it here, and we love all of the extra space.
When litter E was 7 weeks old, we had Litters F & G born on July 5th. It was such an incredible experience. Luna and Kyra went into labor at the exact same time (literally), even though they were bred on different days, they both decided to have their puppies together. It was so awesome. Throughout the day, before they officially went into labor, Kyra basically never left Luna’s side. It’s like Kyra knew Luna had done this before and so she wanted her support. When they were finally about to pop they both went into the whelping box together (even though I had two set up for each of them) and layed back to back while they each delivered their pups. Kyra had contractions first, and then Luna, but I Think Kyra was waiting for Luna to go first, because she didn’t have her first pup until after Luna had her first pup. They each blessed us with 2 puppies, both male and female. Luna’s pups were named freedom and liberty. Kyra’s male pup was named Hulk (he is a massive boy!), and unfortunately her female pup didn’t make it. She died shortly after she was born. She was very very small, had a huge cleft palate and cleft lip, and also had one ear missing. She was just underdeveloped and wouldn’t have made it even if we had rushed her to the vet. Kyra knew she wasn’t going to make it. After the female pup came out Kyra didn’t even bat an eye at her. She didn’t lick her, sniff her or anything. She knew. It was sad, but those things happen unfortunately. So, we ended up with two beautiful pups out of Luna and a beautiful male out of Kyra. They are currently almost 7 weeks old and doing so awesome. They sure are fat, though. With their ample milk supply they gorged themselves everyday and now are huge. I love them so much. They’re all very mellow and sweet. I’m going to miss them when they’re gone. Although, I miss every litter after they leave. Luckily I still get to see almost all of them through the training sessions that I do with them.
After these two litters leave we will be taking a much needed vacation for about 10 days to California and Florida. We’re very excited for the long break! While we’re gone Cedar will be with handler Kyle Hennefer so he can show her in the Farmington, UT shows. She will also be showed in the Grand Junction, CO shows when we get home. I’m super excited to see how she does in these shows! We will also hopefully be breeding Ella again in September. This will be her 3rd litter. We may retire her after this litter, we will see how she does and how she bounces back after a year break. We will hopefully be breeding Ella to Fame Lover Bakoti (sire of our F litter), but if that doesn’t work out then we will be using Boss.
Check back for updates on Cedar’s page and on our Current Litter page to see how Cedar does in the show ring and to see who we breed Ella to and if it takes or not!
